Campaign against Presidential candidate undignified: Jamuna
Bhopal, July 3 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi has urged former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to dissociate himself with ''undignified'' campaign by the NDA against UPA Presidential candidate Pratibha Patil.
In a letter written to Mr Vajpayee, Ms Devi said the campaign against Ms Patil being carried out by the NDA's main constituent BJP was undignified, untrue and misleading.
Pointing out that the campaign will harm his reputation, she said, it was expected from him that a woman candidate, who was going to be appointed as the country's President since 60 years of independence, would receive his support.
However, the BJP, developed under his leadership, was carrying out an undignified and misleading campaign against Ms Patil.
Praising Mr Vajpayee, Ms Devi said his dignified presence in Parliament since 1957 has raised the stature of Parliament by rising above party arrangement and strengthening the roots of democracy.
She added that undignified behaviour being meted out to a woman candidate was not proper.
