Bihar govt decides to recruit 11,500 retired army jawans in SAP
Patna, July 3 (UNI) The Bihar government today decided to recruit 11,500 retired army jawans in Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) on contract in an effort to strengthen the state police force for combating the Naxalites and preventing crimes.
Announcing the state cabinet decision to this effect, cabinet secretary Girish Shankar told newsmen here tonight that Rs 150.75 crore had been earmarked for the appointment of retired army jawans in the SAP for a period of nine months.
He said the cabinet had also decided to launch the World Bank sponsored Rural Livelyhood Earning Programmes in 6,000 villages in six districts of Bihar. A total amount of Rs 306 crore would be spent in this project of which Rs 264 crore would come from the WB itself, Mr Shankar added.
Moreover, he said, the state cabinent had decided to upgrade Phulwarisharif area of the state capital as a separate police sub-division, while Gopalpur police out-post in the same locality would be developed as full fledged police station.
