Bhuj alerted for possible locust menace

Bhuj, Jul 3 (UNI) The locust control office in Bhuj today sounded an alert against an attack from a swarm of locusts here.

The locusts are believed to be heading to Bhuj from Afghanistan, officials said.

Villagers have been asked to inform any movement to nearest taluka development officer of mamlatdar. They were also advised to make loud noise by beating drums or tin cans to scare a swarm of locuts, if detected.

If the locusts are found on trees, it should be burnt by a mashal or a lighted torch, officials added.
