ASI found guilty of molesting foreigner in C'garh

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, July 3 (UNI) The Chhatisgarh High Court today asked the state government to intimate to it proposed punishment against an Assistant Sub-Inspector, accused of molesting a foreigner in Geetanjali Express train on June 6, 2006.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Jagdish Bhalla and Justice Dilip Raosaheb Deshmukh asked the government to intimate it by August 6 about what punishment it proposed against ASI Upendra Mishra.

Earlier, the Inspector General of Police had filed an affidavit before the bench on behalf of Director General of Police stating that departmental inquiry against the accused ASI had been completed.

The discplinary authority had confirmed the charges and a showcause notice was issued against him.

Petitioner's counsel Meena Shastri said as police had so much proofs against the accused, it should also propose punishment for him.
