Army jawan killed, Major wounded in ambush in Rajouri

Jammu, July 3 (UNI) An army jawan was killed and an officer received bullet injuries in an ambush laid by the militants at Dharal in the bordering Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

A patrolling party of 48 Rashtriya rifles (RR) came under a heavy fire at the forward' Topa Post, in which Rfn Bharat Singh lost his life while Maj N J Stiphen was wounded, sources said.

Security forces immediately launched an operation but the militants escaped unhurt, sources said.

No recovery was reported from the site of operation, they added.
