Antony Asks for Inquiry Reports About Lady Offr's Suicide

New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Taking ''serious note'' of the alleged suicide by lady Army officer Captain Megha Razdan in Jammu last Sunday, Defence Minister AK Antony today directed the Army authorities to expedite the probe into the incident.

Chairing a special meeting convened here to discuss the issue, the Minister also directed his Ministry officials to request the Jammu&Kashmir state Government to also speed up the police inquiry into the incident in order to facilitate ascertaining ''the true facts'' about the death of Capt Razdan in her unit.

Capt Razdan -- of the Engineers Regiment -- was found hanging in her room at Kunjwani -- her place of posting on the outskirts of Jammu city -- late on Sunday.

An Army Court of Inquiry was initiated into the incident yesterday.

Today's meeting was attended, among others, by Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt besides senior officials of the Army, the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR) and the Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, an official spokesperson said.

Minister Antony directed the officials of his Ministry, the Army and of DIPR to follow up remedial measures as evolved in the past few months after his taking over as the Defence Minister.
