Amendment to tenancy act on the anvil: Minister

Mangalore, Jul 3 (UNI) Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar today said the Karnataka Government had proposed to bring a suitable Amendment to the land tenancy act to provide the farmers ith 'Moolageni' right of the land.

Speaking on the occasion, after laying the foundation stone for Rs six crore 'Mini Vidhana Soudha' building here, he said a final decision would be taken in the the cabinet meeting. Maximum number of applications were received from the 'Daxina Kannada' district and the Government would take steps to clear the applications soon, he added.

Mr Shettar said the Government this year had released Rs 45 crore for the construction of buildings at 18 Centres in the State, including Mangalore and Puttur. The revenue ministry had also released Rs five crore for flood relief works and compensation to the flood victims in the district, he added.

The minister said the compensation for the natural calamity cases under Central Road Fund (CRF) had been increased to Rs One lakh in case of death and Rs 20,000 for loss of house. 500 acre of 'Gomala' land at Badagannur in Puttur taluk would be donated to Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt, he added.

He alleged that the Government had earlier initiated a process for the construction of 'Bayaulu Ranga Mandira here, but it had not progressed in the last two decades.
