Youth sentenced two years' jail for tormenting woman

Agartala, July 2 (UNI) The West Tripura district court has sentenced a youth to two years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5000 for tormenting a woman two years ago.

After a series of hearings, Judicial Magistrate,(first division) Ms Shankari Das, convicted one Abhijit Chanda and sent him to jail.

She also slapped the cash fine which is to be given to the victim today.

According to reports, Abhijit had perturbed a woman traffic constable who was his co-passenger in an auto rickshaw in Agartala town in January 2005.

A specific complaint was registered against Abhijit and during investigation the victim identified the accused.
