'TCS is the leader in software exports in India'
Mumbai, July 2: Software services major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) maintained its leading position in terms of export of software services followed by Wipro and Infosys, according to a study released by NASSCOM today, which also predicts that the overall IT software and services sector will grow by 24-27 per cent clocking revenues of a whopping USD 49-50 billion in financial year 2008 (FY08).
The apex body of information and technology in India also released a list of the top 20 information technology (IT) software and services exporters in the country.
The Indian IT industry (including the domestic market) grew by 30.7 per cent as against a projected growth of 27 per cent.
The IT industry clocked revenues of USD 39.6 billion in FY07 compared to USD 30.3 billion in the corresponding period last year, the voice of the IT software and services industry in India said.
Software and services exports grew by 33 per cent to USD 31.4 billion as against USD 23.6 billion in FY06. The domestic segment grew by 23 per cent to register revenues of USD 8.2 billion in FY07 compared to USD 6.7 billion in the previous fiscal year.
IT services exports grew by 35.5 per cent to USD 18 billion while ITES-BPO exports were up by 33.5 per cent at USD 8.4 billion.
Engineering services and products exports clocked revenues of USD 4.9 billion, growing at 23 per cent in FY07, the study added.
