Nawab expresses concern over US-Muslim divide

Chennai, July 2 (UNI) Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali today expressed his deep concern over growing divide between the Muslim community and the United States.

In his address to David C Mulford, the Ambassador of America to India, who is on a visit to Amir Mahal, his official residence here, Nawab Ali requested his guest to take initiatives in mending the strained relationship between the Muslims and the US.

Nawab Ali said there was a growing gulf between the two after the attack on the Word Trade Centre and alleged that the US Government was enacting ''repressive laws and measures'' to target the community.

''Such repressive laws are against the spirit of The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of America'', he noted.

He also derided the ''one-sided support'' extended to Israel against the interests of the Palestenian people.

Nawab Ali asked Mr Mulford to appeal to the American Government to reconsider the policies and its conduct in relation to the Muslim world.
