Makwana urges people to change their attitude towards scs
Mysore, July 2 (UNI) Former Union Minister and AICC (I) Scheduled Castes Cell President Yogendra Makawana today urged people to change their attitude towards the SCs and STs and the weaker sections of the society in the larger interest of the country.
Inaugurating a day-long conference of Mysore city Congress SC cell here he said that only SCs are not dalits and the dalits include STs backward classes, minorities and other weaker sections which have been deprived of their rights.
"The only Congress has been supporting such people and the government has been making special programmes to such classes for the uplift to join the main stream of life in the country." he said.
Lashing out at UP Chief Minister Mayawathi for diluting the ideology of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) he said that BSP was no longer a party of dalits and the downtrodden.
It has become a party of Brahmins in the garb of dalits, she is merely posing as a dalit Chief Minister, he observed.
Mr Makawana asked the dalits to create leaders from villages to New Delhi level and support the party which has been striving hard to safeguard them.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramiah, former Union Minister V Sreenivasa Prasad, former ministrs H Vishwnath, M Shivanna, Tanveer Sait and other leaders who spoke on the occasion came down heavily on the Karnataka government and Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy for condemning Congress saying that the party had done nothing for the people.
