New Delhi, July 2 (UNI) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today said Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Chief Paramjit Singh Sarna had been acting as an 'errand boy' of the Congress, in procuring an 'apology letter' from the Dera Sacha Sauda chief for the Akal Takht's consideration.

''However, this later turned out to be a fiasco. In this way, the DSGMC president has not only attempted to politicalise the issue of Dera Chief's apology, but also attempted to befool the Sikh Panth at the bidding of the ruling Congress at the Centre and in Haryana'', RSS National secretary Rulda Singh said, in a statement here.

Mr Singh, who is also the leader of RSS's Sikh front -- the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat -- said the Akal Takht should give religious punishment to Mr Sarna for playing a ''crude joke'' with the Sikhs' highest temporal authority as the sealed envelope did not contain any apology from Dera Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh but it was ''merely a repetition of the latter's earlier position.'' ''But Mr Sarna attempted to make a political capital out of the apology issue and had made tall claims of making the Dera Chief to apologise from the Sikh Panth for his act of blasphemy'', the statement added.

Mr Singh said on earlier occasions too, Mr Sarna ''openly acted on the instructions'' of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and had tried to get ''political milage by his so-called service rendered to Sikh shrines in Pakistan.'' ''Has Mr Sarna forgotten the role of the then ruling Congress when thousands of Sikhs were massacred during the November 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi and other places in the country'', Mr Singh sought to know.

Mr Singh claimed that the Sikh Panth would not allow ''unhindered blaspheming'' of the Sikh religion by the Dera Sacha Sauda, which he claimed was promoted and prompted by the earlier Congress regime in Punjab.

''Now, as many as 75 centres of Dera Sacha Sauda have been closed in Punjab and a large number of Dera followers, known as 'Premis,' have come back to the Sikh religious fold,'' the RSS leader claimed.
