New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) Lauding his high sense of dedication and professionalism, the United Nations Civil Police Mission in Sudan has awarded a commendation certificate to a Delhi Police Inspector for his exemplary role in the release of six villagers there.

Inspector Mohan Singh, Patrol Leader and member of the Indian contingent deployed in Sudan under the United Nations, got six villagers of the Kawaleeb tribe, released through negotiations.

The villagers had been detained by SPLM authorities of Ummhittan village since May 3.

The success of the release assumes importance from the fact that the SPLM authorities had refused to release the villagers during negotiations with the Governor of South Kordofan province a week back.
