Jalandhar, Jan 2 (UNI) Punjab Communist Party of India (Marxist) today accused the SAD-BJP combine Government of not fulfilling election promises.

State secretary Mangat Ram Pasla, in a statement issued here today after the meeting of the state secretariat held here under the chairmanship of Trilochan Singh Rana, said that the Government had completely backed out of its election promises.

He said that the Government lacked political will to mitigate the problems of people, including spiralling prices, unemployement, rampant corruption and police repression.

Mr Pasla said the Secretariat expressed its satisfaction over the encouraging response listed by people to the week-long dharnas, rallies and demonstrations organised by the party against the anti-people policies of the Government. It decided to hold meeting of the state committee on July 10 and 11 to further chalk out the programme of action.

The Secretariat strongly condemned Government move to hand over the recruitment of PCS, PPS and others services to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as it amounted to erosion of powers of the State Government.

The secretariat expressed its grave concern over the ongoing Dera Sacha Sauda imbroglio and urged upon all the concerned parties to arrive at mutually acceptable agreement so that peace and harmony prevailed.

The secretariat condemned the "indifferent" attitude of the administration to the increasing social discrimination with the followers of dera at several places in the state.
