Court asks govt for action against Amir Das commission report
Patna, July 2 (UNI) The Patna High Court today directed the state government to take action as per the recomendations of Amir Das inquiry commission to probe links of political leaders with the banned Ranvir Sena, in connection with the Lakshmanpur Bathe massacre.
A division bench of the court, comprising of Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha, directed the state government to take suitable action based on the records and recomendations of the commission.
The court had ordered to send the entire record and doccuments of the commission to the state government for subsequent action.
Earlier the state government, following the orders of the court on October 12, 2006, had submitted the records prepared by the commission after long trial, before the High court.
The court had given the orders in course of hearing three separate PILs filed in the year 2006 in connection with the Amir Das commission.
The commission was constituted by the RJD government in December 1998 soon after the Lakshmanpur-Bathe massacre, in which 32 dalits were gunned down by the Ranvir sena.
The commission examined 354 people, inclduing 35 prominent political leaders of different parties, including the present ruling BJP and JD(U) especially among those who were examined by the commission - BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushil Kumar Modi(now the deputy chief minister of Bihar), Dr CP Thakur, Ramashray Prasad Singh (now the water resources minister in Nitish cabinet) and several others.
