BJP to resort to agitation if BU do not remove DK leader's book
Coimbatore, July 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu Unit President L Ganesan today threatened to resort to agitation all over the State, if the Bharathiyar University (BU) here do not remove Dravida Kazhagam(DK) membership forms and its leader K Veeramani's book 'Vaghvial Sindhanaigal' from the text books.
Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that in a particular lesson from his book, Mr Veeramani had written against the joint family system, worship style of Hindus and Christians and criticised a particular community. It was unfortunate that the University had included the DK Membership Form in the last page of the book, he added.
Mr Ganesan said, if the present United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government passes a Bill for 33 per cent reservation for women, any President will sign the Act and for that they do not need a Woman President to implement it.
The BJP leader urged the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), formed recently, to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) supported candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the ensuing Presidential poll.
He said the Life Insurance Company(LIC) had decided to invest its funds in 'Zee Group' to introduce the Credit Card System. The Central government should not sanction permission to the LIC, as their proposed decision will only affect the policy-holders.
Mr Ganesan said every year the state government released water at Mettur Dam on June 12 for Kuruvai crop, but this time the PWD minister Duraimurgan had announced that they could not release water due to insufficient storage level. Mr Duraimurugan should have approached his Karnataka counterpart for release of water, keeping in mind the interest of Delta farmers, he added.
Earlier, hundreds of BJP workers led by Mr Ganesan resorted to slogan shouting demanding basic amenities from the city corporation.
