Suburban, long-distance trains affected as heavy rains lash Mumbai

Mumbai, June 30 (UNI) Rail trasnport in the city was badly affected due to the incessant rains that have been cashing the city since yesterday night.

While Central Railways (CR) completely shut the suburban services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Vashi on the Harbour Line, and between CST and Thane on the Central line, suburban train services on the Western line are running 30 minutes late today.

Accoding to the Western Railway (WR) sopkesperson, the suburban services on the WR were runing 20 minues late in the morning. ''Now all services are running late by 30 minutes.'' the spokesperson said.

But, all long-distance trains on the western Line are running as per scheduled time, he said.

However, the situation at the Central line was worst. In view of the several areas getting deluged after the heavy showers, the CR authorities cancelled the local services between CST-Thane, and CST-Vashi.

Alongside, the CR also cancelled as many as 17 long-distance trains, while partially cancelling another seven. The trains which have been canclelled include 1353 Mumbai-Bhusaval Passenger, 1021 Mumbai-Pune Indrayani Express, 1007 Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express, 2127 Mumbai-Pune Inter City Express, 7617 Mumbai-Nanded Tapovan Express, 1029 Mumbai-Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus ( Kolhapur) Koyna Express, 2126 Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express, 2118 Manmad-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Godavari Express, 6345 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Thiruvananthapuram Netravati Express, 2619 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Mangalore Matsyagandha Express, 0103 Mumbai-Madgaon Mandvi Express, 2128 Pune-Mumbai Inter City Express, 1022 Pune-Mumbai Indrayani Express, 1008 Pune-Mumbai Deccan Express, 0104 Madgaon-Mumbai Mandvi Express, 2052 Madgaon-Dadar Jan Shatabdi Express and 1030 Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus (Kolhapur)-Mumbai Koyna Express.

The trains that have been partially cancelled include 2124 Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen, which will be terminated at Lonavla and run as 2123 Mumbai-Pune Deccan Queen. Similarly, 1010 Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express will be terminated at Lonavla and run as 1009 Mumbai-Pune Sinhagad Express, while 2110 Manmad-Mumbai Panchvati Express will be terminated at Igatpuri and run as 2109 Mumbai Manmad Panchvati Express.

Also, 1024 Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus ( Kolhapur)-Mumbai Sahyadri Express will be terminated at Dehu Road and run as 1029 Koyna Express, and 7032 Hyderabad-Mumbai Express terminated at Kalyan and will run as 7031 Mumbai-Hyderabad Express, while 2140 Nagpur-Dadar Sewagram Express terminated at Kalyan and will run as 2139 Dadar-Nagpur Sewagram Express.

In addition to this, the 2618 Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Mangala Experss will be diverted via Kalyan and Pune and 2978 Jaipur-Ernakulam Express will be diverted via Kalyan, Pune, a CR official said.
