Pay compensation to Army victim, register case against CRPF,J

Srinagar Jun 30 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the authorities to provide an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh and a job to the relatives of a person allegedly killed by the Army in custody.

The commission also directed the state government to register a case against the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), allegedly involved in the killing of one person in 2005.

The directions came on a petition filed by Mohammad Sadiq Shah, a resident of Barzulla, alleging that his son Fayaz Ahmad Shah was killed by the army after his arrest.

In his petition he alleged that his son had gone missing after a crack down conducted by 5th GR of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Barzulla Taking a serious note of the case registered against the RR, the commission directed the state authorities to provide Rs one lakh and job under SRO 43 to one of the relatives of Fayaz.

The commission also directed the state to provide ex-gratia relief of Rs two lakhs to the relatives of Vijay Kumar who was allegedly killed by the CRPF in 2005.

The SHRC directed the state to initiate legal proceedings against the CRPF personnel involved in the killing.

The SHRC has also directed the state to provide ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh to Roshan Din of Ramban whose son was killed in militancy related incident in 2005.
