Junagadh court grants bail to 'Godmother' Santokben Jadeja

Rajkot, Jun 30 (UNI) The Junagadh court today granted bail to 'Godmother' Santokben Jadeja, who was arrested for allegedly giving shelter to the two prime accused Mohan Hamir and Ramesh alias Bhadu who had killed a teenage Koli girl and raped another at Datar Shrine on May 13.

Fast Track court Judge P P Makhiya today granted the bail after Gujarat High court yesterday directed the lower court to hear the bail application of 'Godmother' Santokben Jadeja and had asked her counsel to approach the lower court in Junagadh for this case.

However, in another application regarding Santokben's narco analysis and brain-mapping test which has been approved by the lower court, ten days' time was also granted to her to appeal the tests in the High Court.

'Godmother' Santokben Jadeja was arrested by Junagadh police on June 9.

Santokben Jadeja alias 'Godmother' has a lot of clout in Saurashtra region, particularly in Porbandar. A film 'Godmother' has also been made on her life starring Shabana Azmi in the title role.

Santokben Jadeja, who is a former member of Kutiyana Legislative Assembly, was earlier arrested August last year in connection with the murder of a BJP councillor from Porbandar in March 2005.
