Nashik, June 30: Several long-distance trains have been affected on the Central Railway (CR) route due to continuous downpour in Mumbai, forcing railway authorities to either reschedule or cancel trains on this route.

''Most short distance trains have been canceled whereas long distance trains are running late. These trains have been rescheduled as their cancellation may have caused further inconvenience to passengers,'' Nashik Road Railway Station Manager D S Rathore said.

The 2110 up Manmad-Mumbai Pachavati express (super fast) had to return from Igatpuri station to Manmad, while 2859 down Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express (super fast) has been rescheduled by four hours, Mr Rathore said.

The 1353 down Mumbai-Bhusawal Savari, 7617 down Mumbai-Nanded Tapowan Express and 2118 up Lokmanya Tilak Terminal-Manmad Godavari Express have been canceled.

Also 2812 up Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Hatiya Express (super fast) via Nagpur is running late by four-and-half-hours, while 5645 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Guwahati Express via Bhagalpur has been postponed indefinitely.

Many passengers have been stranded at Nashik Road Railway Station due to delay of trains.
