Terrorist refuses identification of Shramjeevi blast accused

Jaunpur, Jun 29 (UNI) A Bangladeshi terrorist lodged in the high-security Tihar Jail today refused to identify the three accused in the Patna-New Delhi Shramjeevi Express bomb blast case in 2005.

Anisul was produced before the Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajendra Chandra.

In his statement before the court, Anisul claimed he does not know the three blast accused-Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul.

The blast on July 28, 2005 near Singramau railway station here had killed 14 passengers and wounded about 90 others.

Anisul and his brother Mohibul, whose statement will be recorded tomorrow, were arrested in connection with the serial blast case of Delhi last year.

Anisul told the court that the police had taken his signatures on a blank paper to concoct a statement saying he had identified the Shramjeevi blast accused.

Earlier, Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were produced before the court under a tight security. Later, they were sent to jail under the judicial custody.

The two terrorists brought from the Tihar Jail were sent to the district jail. The court also directed the District Magistrate Aparna U and police superintendent M Ashok Jain for tight security arrangements in the prison in this wake.

The duo had been sent to a separate barrack due to security considerations.

On July 24, 2006 the court had fixed charges under CrPC sections 148, 307, 302 and 120 B, Explosive Substance Act section 3/4, Railway Act section 150, 151 and Foreigners Act section 14 in the case.

Two other accused Mohd Sharif alias Sirajuddin of Bangladesh and Mohd Roni were still absconding in the Shramjeevi blast case, while Dr Sayeed was yet to be traced.

Another accused Ghulam Rajdani alias Pahiya was eliminated in a police encounter.

In May, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were brought from the Cherallapalli Central Jail, Andhra Pradesh under a warrant, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi, was brought here from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
