Rupee firms up against USD at 40.77/79
Mumbai, June 29: The Indian rupee started firm four paise in the early day trade as compared to the previous close.
It opened at Rs 40.77/79 with the market witnessing extreme volatility in the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market.
According to market observers, the local currency, which has been at lower margins during last week, is on an upward move on account of huge dollar selling by public sector banks.
''The rupee is on an appreciating spree and may end up the day's trade in the range of 40.65/66,'' dealer with a bank said.
