Last round of public hearing for Ahmedabad rural on July 21
Ahmedabad, Jun 29 (UNI) The Nanavati-Shah Commission, inquiring into the 2002 Gujarat riots, has fixed July 21 for the last round of public hearing on grievances and relief to the riot-affected people of Ahmedabad Rural.
Justice G T Nanavati and Justice K G Shah today heard the grievances of affected persons from Vadodara city. Only four people turned up to depose before the commission.
Their complaint was common, about the losses suffered during the riots and they had not yet received any compensation from the authorities. They had no answer to a question from the commission as to why they had not approached it earlier during the four sittings that it had in Vadodara city.
''Since you had not aproached us with your grievances earlier, a fresh application along with copies of FIR and other evidences, supporting claims, are to be furnished so that commission can take necessary steps for further action in the matter'', they said.
With today's hearing, the commission had almost completed their last round of public hearing from the affected people across the state, except Ahmedabad.
The commission will hear on July 21 grievances of those who had not approached them in the earlier sittings from Ahmedabad Rural.
