K'taka HC issues notice to CBI on Telgi's appeal

Bangalore, Jun 29: The Karnataka High Court had issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a criminal appeal filed by prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi, who was found guilty by a session court in March this year.

The Bangalore Session court which found guilty Abdul Karim Telgi had sentenced him to 5 years for rigorious imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 for offences of variant nature including fraud, cheating and forgery.

However Abdul Karim Telgi had filed a criminal appeal petition before the Karnataka High Court challenging the session court's order. Mr Justice Kabbin, who heard the preliminary submissions into the petition had ordered to issue notices to the CBI on the issue.
