Health Minister inaugurates Trauma care

Thane, Jun 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Health Minister Dr Vimal Mundada today said a 100-bed Gynaecology Hospital, exclusively for women, would be set up soon in the premises of the Thane district civil hospital.

Inaugurating the Trauma Care Unit and CT Scan services at the Thane Civil Hospital, the minister said the health department of the state government was making all possible efforts to provide the best of health care facilities of most modern type to the needy. There will be no dearth of funds in providing the health services, she said.

''Thane is a unique district, which is mostly covered by tribal population and it was necessary to upgrade the health facilities from time to time'', she said.

She said the Trauma Care and CT Scan services would be extended in a phased manner to rural hospitals in the district as a number of highways pass through the district, that are prone to road accidents.

She agreed that there was an absolute need for provision of dialysis facility, neuro surgery and cardiac facilities and this would be done in phased manner in the coming years.

The Minister lauded the services rendered by the medical staff in the district and said it was sheer encouragement from the citizens and the organisations which helped the staff sustain the work and pressure.

Minister in charge of the district Ganesh Naik and MLA Eknath Shinde, also spoke on the occasion.

Mr Naik volunteered to donate two dialysis machine for the hospital, while Mr Shinde said he would use the maximum of his funds for betterment of the hospital as this was the most important hospital in the district.

Civil Surgeon Dr P M Chapalgaonkar, welcomed the guests and took stock of the work done by the hospital and the medical staff of the district.
