DoNER to organise business promotion week at Bangkok in October

New Delhi, Jun 29 (UNI) With a view to attracting fresh investments in the region, the Ministry for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will organise a week-long North East business promotion campaign in Bangkok in October.

Talking to UNI, the Minister for DoNER Mani Shankar Aiyar said the ministry has received a number of queries from the leading companies of Thailand with regard to making fresh investments.

He said a leading company called Ms CP group of Thailand, engaged in the food processing sector in Andhra Pradesh, has expressed desire for establishing its units in the region with fresh investments.

Similarly, another group is gearing up to set up a budget hotel at Agartala in Tripura.

Another combine ie willing to make investment for the development of the inlandwater ways system in the region for the movement of passenger traffic as well as for the easy and smooth movement of goods. Once operational, this inlandwater ways system would substantially reduce the time for movement of goods within the region besides boosting the exports, he added.

The Minister said the Government is also exploring the possibility of having a joint venture in the construction sector particularly for the development of road network in the region.

He said the preliminary inquiry indicates good response towards the construction sector, he added.
