CM shielding DJB officers involved in gang rape: Vijay Jolly
New Delhi, June 29 (UNI) Senior Delhi BJP leader and party MLA Vijay Jolly today alleged that Delhi Chief Minister and chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board Sheila Dikshit was shielding some senior officers of the DJB accused in a gang rape case.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Vijay Jolly alleged that due to undue political pressure, four senior officers of the DJB - Chief Engineer (South) B M Dhaul, Ex Chief Engineer Sarat Chander, Senior Engineer project Praveen Bhargava and senior engineer (South West) Ramesh Thakur - accused in a rape case registered at the Malviya Nagar police station had not arrested by the Delhi police even 20 days after an FIR was registered against them.
''Despite being accused in the rape of a 25-year-old woman, a former employee of Kaveri Infrastructure pvt ltd, the DJB officials are roaming free and have not been arrested, suspended and interrogated,''Mr Jolly said and accused the Chief Minister and DJB CEO Arun Mathur of shielding the said officers.
''As the chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board, Ms Sheila Dikshit owes responsibility for the criminal act by the DJB officers,''Mr Jolly said.
He further alleged that Mr Mathur could be seen attending officials meetings of the DJB in the open company of these tainted officers since June 9, the date of registration of a police case against the accused.
Mr Jolly alleged that the accused came to the house of the victim at Shivalik in South Delhi on the pretext of giving her an interview letter and raped her after giving her sedative laced pastries. They later blackmailed the victim on the basis of a CD they made while committing the crime.
Demanding that the DJB, Chief Minister and the Police Commissioner should come clean in the rape case, the BJP leader said,''the culprits should be immediately suspended from Government service.
The police should arrest the culprits and recover the gang rape CD.'' He threatened to demonstrate before the office of the Police Commissioner in case no action was taken in the matter in the next three to four days.
