Centre to release 4726 MT foodgrains to HP under SGRY

Shimla, Jun 29 (UNI) The Centre has decided to release 4726 metric tonnes foodgrains under Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) to Himachal Pradesh during 2007-08.

The Union Ministry of Rural Development has approved the release of 2777 mt of wheat and 1949 metric ton of rice to five districts of the state for the financial year 2007-08, according to a press release.

The foodgrains will be supplied to the state through Food Corporation of India. The allocation is meant for the districts of Shimla, Bilaspur, Kullu, Solan and Una, the release said.

Under the SGRY, foodgrain is given to a person against work and the rate of delivery has been reduced from 5 kg to 3 kg per man-day for 2007-08.

The release said that if the Government failed to supply foodgrains payment would be made in cash to the person.
