A'bad: Apollo Hospital to open 8 chest pain clinics
Ahmedabad, June 9: City-based Apollo Hospital today announced that it plans to open eight more chest pain clinics here to deal with cardiac emergencies.
The Hospital today opened its second clinic at Shahibaug area of the city to provide emergency treatment to patients with chest pain complaint which, in most cases, is the cardinal sign of heart attack.
The first clinic was launched in Gandhinagar on June 22, hospital sources said.
Patients complaining of chest pain can now be taken to these clinics, where the exact cause of the pain can be ascertained. It can also be found out whether the chest pain was a result of a cardiac ailment. After diagnosis and preliminary treatment of the patient, the patient can be discharged or transferred to a hospital of his choice, sources said The chest pain clinics will be well-equipped with adequate infrastructure to handle cardiac emergencies. The clinics will have trained medical staff and modern diagnostic devices to provide on the spot treatment. Moreover, the clinics will also provide ambulance services round the clock.
Despite the rapid progress of heart treatment, it is unfortunate to note that every 20 second one person suffers heart attack and a death owning to heart attack occurs every minute. One of the main reasons of such discrepancy is the loss of precious time in between the occurrence of the cardiac event and medical intervention, sources added.
