STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Markets rise after Wall St rebound

HONG KONG, June 28 (Reuters) Asian stocks rose on Thursday, snapping four straight sessions of declines as investors picked shares recently sold off such as global miner BHP Billiton following a rebound on Wall Street.

A pullback in the yen against the dollar and euro further helped lift Japanese exporters including Honda Motor , which tend to benefit from a weaker yen as it boosts the value of overseas sales.

At 0020 GMT, Tokyo's Nikkei average <.n225> had climbed 0.3 percent as Honda Motor put on 2.1 percent and electronics components maker Kyocera added 0.9 percent.

Bridgestone jumped 3.7 percent a day after the top Japanese tyre maker raised its annual net profit forecast. See [ID:nT280066].

''Japanese stocks are likely to rebound largely on a recovery in U.S. stocks,'' said Yutaka Miura, deputy manager of the equity information department at Shinko Securities.

But further upside may be capped after data released before market open showed Japan's industrial production unexpectedly fell 0.4 percent in May from a month earlier, casting doubts on an anticipated rebound in output.

In South Korea, gains of 4.0 percent for shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries and 3.1 percent for flat screen maker LG Philips LCD helped drive the benchmark KOSPI <.ks11> up 0.6 percent.

''We're in for a rebound after falls in the past few days,'' said Kim Joon-kie, an analyst at SK Securities.

''Nearing the end of the first half, the mood is likely to prompt institutional investors to buy stocks for window dressing.'' Australia's key S&P/ASX 200 index <.axjo> climbed 1.2 percent thanks to strength in the major miners and big four local banks.

National Australia Bank added 1.5 percent, while mining giant BHP Billiton added 0.9 percent.

Takeover target Coates Hire rallied 4.1 percent after the equipment hire firm said it would set up a due diligence process given strong interest in the company.
