Night surveillance to be introduced in and around Bengal Assembly
Kolkata, Jun 28 (UNI) Night surveillance will be introduced in and around the West Bengal Assembly to cope with the threat of terrorism as the House commences for the second leg of the Budget session on July two.
'' I have asked police to keep vigil at night in the wake of terrorist threat. The security measures in the day time will be normal, '' Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim today told reporters.
The measure came at a time when four suspected activists of Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islamia (HuJI), a Bangladesh-based terrorist organisation, had been arrested from different parts of the state.
According to intelligence reports, the arrested, all residents of West Bengal, were close to HuJI area commander Jalaluddin who was nabbed by a special task force of Uttar Pradesh police in Lucknow recently.
Intelligence reports also said several other youths of the state were influenced by HuJI to participate in terrorist activities thereby, raising suspicion of a well-orchestrated network of the outfit being active in the state.
As CID of the state police continued to interrogate the four arrested youths, a special team of Uttar Pradesh police set their camps in the state to take their custody on way to Lucknow in connection with several terrorist activities.
