Mortal remains of Yogendra Shukla consigned to flames

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 28 (UNI) The mortal remains of UNI special correpondent Yogendra Shukla, who died in a road accident here, were today consigned to flames at a local crematorium.

The funeral procession was attended by members of the local media, writers, family members and political leaders, including Lok Sabha member and Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire.

The journalists paid glowing tributes to Shukla and recalled his contributions to the field of journalism during his long tenure of more than two and half decades in the profession. The speakers described him as a selfless and objective journalist.

Shukla was admitted in the Seth Nandlal Dhoot Hospital here in a critical condition after he along with his family members was injured in a road accident, near Pachod, 50 kms from here, while returning from a pilgrimage on Tuesday. He breathed his last in the wee hours of Wednesday.

His wife and two daughters are being treated in the hospital for injuries. According to doctors at the hospital they are progressing well.
