Minister warns action against over pricing of liquor

Rajahmundry, June 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Excise and Prohibition Minister Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao today said stringent action would be taken against wine shops selling liquor at a price above the government fixed Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

Talking to newspersons here, he said following complaints from various quarters that some wine shops were selling certain liquor brands above the MRP, the government had formed teams to conduct surprise checks at the liquor shops.

He said a penalty of Rs 50,000 would be levied on first time offenders, the fine would be doubled if caught for second time and thereafter the licence would be cancelled.

On dealing with the sewage water problem here, the Minister said a separate sewerage canal would be constructed at a cost of Rs five crore.
