Incessant rains to continue in Mumbai MET
Mumbai, Jun 28 (UNI) Incessant rains lashing parts of the city and its suburbs since early today disrupted normal life as traffic moved at a snail's pace because of water-logging and poor visibility.
Suburban train services, the life-line of the metropolis, were not affected much but trains were running ten to fifteen minutes late on the harbour line of Central Railway.
Meanwhile, the MET department forecast further spells of rain or thundershowers to hit parts of the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours.
The total rainfall recorded in the metropolis for the last 24 hours is 12.8 mm at Colaba in south Mumbai and 9.1 mm at Santacruz in north Mumbai.
Rainfall recorded from 0830 hrs to 1430 hrs is 28.7 mm at Colaba and 46.2 mm at Santacruz.
However, yesterday's trough of low pressure on sea level charts extending from north east Arabian Sea to east central Arabian sea has become less marked.
According to the MET department, monsoon is strong over west central Arabian sea, moderate to strong over north east, east central and south west Arabian sea and moderate over south east Arabian sea.
Moderate to rather heavy rainfall is likely to occur at most places over south central Maharashtra, Marathawada and the Konkan regions. Moderate rainfall is also likely to occur at a few places over north central Maharashtra.
MET officials have predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall will hit isolated places in the district of Raigad during next 48 hours.
