Three killed in road accident in HP
Shimla, June 27 (UNI) At least three people were killed and one seriously injured after a truck, they were traveling in, veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Kandaghat in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh early today, police sources said.
Kandaghat SDM Dalip Negi told UNI here that the truck with four people aboard veered off the road and plunged into the gorge near Kandaghat, about 30 km from here on the Shimla-Kalka National Highway No 22, at about 0300 hrs.
The truck was carrying cement to Karcham in Kinnuar district from Chandigarh when it met with an accident, he said.
Mr Negi said the cause of the accident was, however, not immediately known. A case had been registered and investigations were on to ascertain the reason, he added.
The injured man was admitted to a government hospital at Kandaghat and was stated to be out of danger, he said.
The SDM said the dead have been identified as truck driver Viru, 40, Nosh Kumar, 30, and Manoj Kumar, 28.
The district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead and Rs 5,000 to the injured in the accident, he said.
