NRI woman murdered under garb of accident,husband absconding

Moga, June 27 (UNI) A young NRI woman was allegedly killed by her husband, who tried to project the murder as a car accident early today but on being exposed, managed to run away from the hospital.

The Highways Police Patrol party in early hours today found a dead woman inside a vehicle parked near Lohara Chowk on Moga Jalandhar road and a man on the front seat, who was slightly injured. The injured, identified himself as Jagtar Singh and claimed that his wife Kiranpal Kaur (26) died when a truck hit their vehicle from behind.

The patrol party immediately took Singh to Moga Civil Hospital and then informed the Dharamkot Police.

The SSP Devinder Singh Garcha told UNI that a close probe revealed that Kiranpal Kaur had not died in accident but was murdered as body showed sharp-edged serious injuries behind her ear and on top of her skull.

According to SSP Dharamkot, Police registered a case of murder under section 302 IPC. Further investigations revealed that the husband had stage-managed the accident with the help of a truck driver who hit the car from behind with the backside of his truck.

Meanwhile, Jagtar Singh has managed to escape from the hospital.

The SSP further stated that the NRI couple had arrived in Punjab about 25 days back.

Jagtar Singh belonged to Chugha Kalan of Moga district while the deceased woman Kiranpal Kaur belonged to Khosa Randhir of Moga district.

Police have registered a case on the complaint of Darshan Singh, father of the deceased woman.
