Loss due to heavy rains estimated at 12 crore in Gulbarga

Gulbarga, June 27 (UNI) Karnataka Agriculture and Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshnapur today said loss to the district due to heavy rains was put at Rs 12 crore.

Talking to reporters here, he said roads in the district were badly damaged. One person lost his life in the district and about 15 cattle were washed away.

Mr Darshnapur said a sum of Rs one crore was released from the calamity fund to meet emergency works. The 720 houses which suffered damage in the district would be given an amount of Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000.

The Minister instructed the officials to asses the exact loss of crop and submit a report by the months-end.

Earlier, he participated in a review meeting and with officials discussed with the prevailing situation.
