Judicial remand of Chahal extended till July 10

Ludhiana, June 27 (UNI) A local court today extended the judicial remand of B I S Chahal, the high profile media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and three others till July 10 in an attempt to murder case.

The others whose remand was extended included Jaswinder Singh and his brothers Harbhajan Singh and Jagdish Singh, whose daughter is married to Chahal's son.

Chahal along with the other three were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate, K K Bansal who after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and the defence counsels, extended the judicial remand. Chahal was brought from Patiala this morning, where two cases of fraud were registered against him this month.

Chahal along with six others was arrested in the attempt to murder case here on June 10. The case was registered on the complaint of 83-year old farmer Harchand Singh of Daad village who alleged that he was beaten and threatened by Chahal and others in October last year after he resisted their attempts to occupy his prime piece of land worth several crores.

Three persons named in the FIR in this case were released on bail by a local court few days back.

Talking to mediapersons in the court complex here, Chahal complained of mistreatment by police. He alleged that he was being served food which was not prescibed in the jail manual and no visitors, barring his lawyers, are permitted to meet him.
