Govt accepts AP Minimum Wages Advisory Board recommendations

Hyderabad, June 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minimum Wages Advisory Board Chairman Babar Saleem Pasha today said the state government had accepted the recommendations of the board on revision and fixation of minimum wages for employees in organised and unorganised sectors.

Addressing a press conference here after the Board's meeting, he said the Board had recommended wages on 42 scheduled employments and the government had issued orders to implement them in majority of the organisations.

The Board, during its two-year tenure had met a dozen time and recommended wages for various establishments at different stages for the benefit of the workers, he said adding the state government was strictly implementing the minimum wages.

The Board today discussed in detail in respect of employment in Mini and Tiny cement factories, Chemical and Pharmaceutical, including pesticides and tobacco (excluding beedi making factories), and recommended the revision of wages for the workers.

The recommendations would be sent to the government for approval, he informed.

The Board also recommended the government to scrap GO 33 that restricted the powers of Enforcement Authorities.

Meanwhile, AITUC state secretary T Narasimham alleged that GO 33 was brought by the TDP Government following pressure from managements.

Seeking immediate scrapping of the GO for the benefit of the workers, he demanded that thorough checks be conducted in the establishments to ensure thorough implementation of the minimum wages.
