Former Mumbai crime branch DCP Pradeep Sawant walks free

Pune, June 27 (UNI) Former Mumbai crime branch Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP) Pradeep Sawant was exonerated in the Telgi fake stamp paper scam by Special MCOCA Judge Chitra K Bhedi here today.

Earlier in the day, Justice Bhedi had also acquitted former Mumbai police commissioner R S Sharma in the same case.

Along with the high-profile DCP, police inspector (PI) Vashist Andhale was also acquitted.

During his tenure with the Mumbai crime branch, DCP Sawant used to head the elite encounter squad that broke the backbone of the underworld mafia in the metropolis.
