Citizens pay rich tributes to social reformer Shahu Maharaj

Kolhapur, Jun 26 (UNI) Citizens paid rich tributes to the great social reformer and ruler of the erstwhile Kolhapur princely state Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj on his 133th birth anniversary here today.

Various functions were held in the city and across the district to mark the birth anniversary of Shahu Maharaj.

District guardian minister Harshwardhan Patil, political party leaders and others visited the birthplace of Rajarshi at the Kasaba Bavada suburb and garlanded his portrait earlier in the morning.

Mr Patil, Kolhapur Mayor Sai Kharade and others later visited city's historical Dasara Chowk and garlanded the life size statue of Shahu Maharaj.
