Mumbai: Aur'bad girl tops SSC exam with 96.15 pc
Mumbai, June 27: Aurangabad student Maithili Bhaskar Rajendra, with 96.15 per cent, topped in the Secondary School Certificate examinations (SSC), conducted by the Maharashtra state secondary and higher secondary board in March.
The second place was retained by Latur's Sarayu Suryavanshi with 96.00 per cent and Magarbi BibiRaja Ashif Hussani of Pune stood third, securing 95.69 per cent.
The Mumbai division topped among the different divisions with an overall pass percentage of 84.57 in the exams, the results of which were announced today.
It was followed by Latur (80.81 per cent), Pune (80.63 per cent), Aurangabad (80.53 per cent), Kolhapur (78.66 per cent), Nashik (77.47 per cent), Amravati (73.12 per cent) and Nagpur division with an overall pass percentage of 59.19 was the lowest among the eight divisions in the State.
The overall pass percentage in the State was 77.17 per cent.
Announcing the results at a news conference in Pune, Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (MSSHSEB) Chairman Vijaysheela Sardesai said overall, girls had performed better than boys.
The top three State toppers were followed by Kolhapur's Pranalee Prashant Prabhu (95.53), Amravati's Keerti Shivprakash Bhandari (95.23), Mumbai's Renuka Milind Deshpande (95.07) and Nashik division's Aditi Kiran Nehete (93.38).
Around 1,400 schools out of 18,508, have got cent per cent results.
However, the students performed poorly in English (70 per cent) overall as compared to other subjects (90 per cent), he said.
All students were given 30 extra marks in Mathematics paper.
In all, 13,26,077 students had registered for the examination, of whom 13,15,287 students appeared and 10,15,064 students passed.
