Ambedkar party to take out Rath Yatra to Delhi
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, June 27 (UNI) The All India Ambedkar People's Party will take out a rath yatra from Kanniyakumari to New Delhi from July 18 to press their various demands.
Announcing this to newspersons here this evening, party President V Balasundaram said the yatra would be flagged off by Kanchi mutt senior pontiff Jayendra Saraswati.
The yatra would highlight the menace of untouchability and casteist oppressions, besides lack of social equality and oneness.
It was also to demand filling up of one lakh vacant posts in Central Government service and 22,000 at the State level by giving postings to Dalits, he said.
The party would submit memoranda to Tamil Nadu Governor, Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, highlighting its demands. If there was no favourable response at the State level, the party would proceed to Delhi, he said.
