Aizawl, June 26: The Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) has extended its full support to the Mizo Zirlai Pawl's construction of Zorun (Mizo house) at 'disputed' area on the Mizoram-Asom border to protect the 'original' boundary.

The Lalduhoma-led ZNP fanned the fire by clothing MZP leaders with traditional clothes at the party office here today.

The boundary, drawn by the Britishers in 1850, was redrawn in 1867 and is the only line drawn with the approval of Mizo chiefs as per Inner Line Regulation Act in 1875. The Asom government redrew the boundary line without the consent of Mizos in 1904, then in 1917, 1930 and for the last time in 1933.

MZP president P C Laltlansanga said the ILR, 1875 is the true boundary between Asom and Mizoram and that the MZP would make a new map for the state based on this.

Meanwhile, Kolasib Additional Superintendent of Police Lalremmuana had apologised to the student's organisation, MZP sources said today.

However, the MZP slammed the Mizo government for its 'failure' to meet the MZP demands to find the responsible persons behind the dismantle of Zorun and concluded that the incident still could not awaken the government to the boundary dispute.

MZP is planning to stage a protest rally on June 27 against the government's 'indifferent attitude' towards the boundary dispute.
