Uttarakhand clinches two awards on tourism

Dehra Dun, June 26 (UNI) Uttarakhand was awarded CNBC AWAAZ Travel Award 2007 in the category of Best Travel Destination-Heritage Culture and the Best Travel Destination-Religious Tourism Award.

Both the awards were won by Haridwar district of Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Prakash Pant, after his return from Award ceremony in Delhi, told reporters here today that CNBC Awaaz, in association with The Nielsen Company, had initiated a comprehensive objective study on travel industries, covering almost 20 categories across 10 major cities.

The award was presented by Ms Ambika Soni, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture yesterday in Delhi.
