Spells of rain or thundershowers in city in next 24 hours

Mumbai, June 26 (UNI) The south-west monsoon has advanced into Arabian Sea, and the entire Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The MET department has forecast spells of rainfall or thundershowers to hit parts of the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours accompanied by strong gusty winds with possibilities of heavy rain in some areas.

The rainfall recorded in the Metropolis for the last 24 hours is 59 mm at Colaba in south Mumbai and 84 mm at Santacruz in north Mumbai respectively.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur over many places in central Maharashtra, Marathwada and the Konkan region in the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely to occur over central Maharashtra during the same period.

The MET department for the second consecutive day has issued a warning to fishermen against venturing into the high sea due to high west to southwesterly waves.

Winds with southwesterly speed of 60-65 kmph temporarily will be reaching 75kmph in gusts making the sea rough. As a result signal number LC III has been hoisted at all ports from Dahanu to Mormagao of Maharashtra-Goa coasts, it added.
