SMC ready to tackle post-flood health treatment
Surat, June 26 (UNI) The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is ready to tackle any kind of disaster that may strike the city during the monsoon.
SMC health department head I C Patel told UNI ''SMC has completed all the medical process. The medical officers have held meetings and all the procedure to protect the city from any kind of epidemics will be taken due care. The Corporation has set up more than 300 centres for people seeking information about the water-borne and water diseases like leptospirosis, jaundice and typhoid can be known.'' ''We have also started mobile medical teams to control the diseases and protect people from it. Ten mobile medical teams and 28 urban health centres, working 24 hours, have been started to help the patients who are suffering from water-borne diseases. The test facility has been set up in Surat Medical College and Hospital,'' he said.
Moreover, weekly surveillance will be taken in the areas like Nanpura, Ved road and Katargam, which were highly affected by the diseases last year.
