'People's participation essential for edu reform'
Patna, Jun 26: Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating state of education in the state, Governor R.S.Gavai said people's participation is essential for reforms in educational institutions.
Speaking at a seminar on ''Challenges of Education'', organised under the aegis of Human Rights Protection Institute yesterday, he said here that the state had a golden history in the educational secenario.
Referring to the golden period of Nalanda and Vikramshila universities, he said it was really ''unfortunate'' that the educational system deteriorated with multiple effect.
He urged the people of Bihar to come forward like the people of Europe, to improve the educational scenario for the benefit of the next generation.
He said the government had taken all necessary steps to rectify the wrong-doings in the system and took several steps to improve the quality of education in the state.
He added the academic calender would be implemented simultenously in all universities of the state from July 1.
