Overall pass percentage goes up to 70.59 pc

Pune, June 26 (UNI) With the Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (MSSHSEB) deciding to grant 30 marks in Mathematics to each student who appeared for Standard X examination in March, the overall pass percentage this year has gone up to 70.59 per cent, an increase of 6 per cent over the previous year.

Announcing the results at a news conference here today, MSSHSEB chairman Vijaysheela Sardesai said overall, the girls have performed better than boys. Around 1,400 schools out of 18,508, have got cent per cent results. However, the wards have performed poorly in English (70 per cent) overall as compared to other subjects (90 per cent).

In eight divisions of the state, Latur recorded the highest pass percentage of 77.12, followed by Aurangabad 75.62, Mumbai 75.02, Pune 73.46, Kolhapur 72.84, Nashik 72.20, Amravati 67.89 and Nagpur 53.41.

In all, 16,61,974 students had registered for the examination, of whom 16,43,886 students appeared and 11,60,425 students passed.
