MP seeks Rs 15 cr from Centre for Convention Centre at Bhopal

New Delhi, June 26 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh government today sought early release of Rs 15 crore Central assistance, sanctioned by it last year, for constructing a trade and convention centre in the state capital.

During a meeting with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath here, state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that his government has already floated a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to set up the convention centre near the Vidhan Sabha building, adding 15 that acres land would be acquired very soon. Mr Chouhan said to make the centre viable, his government also planned to set up a 100-room five star hotel near the centre. Hotel income will be used to run the centre, he added.

The Chief Minister also took up the issue of setting up spice board at Chhindwara, constituency of Mr Kamal Nath, and a readymade garments unit at Jabalpur with the Union Minister, the state government said in a statement.
